Τέταρτη εν σειρά εκδήλωση αλληλεγγύης από Λονδίνο

Για τέταρτη συνεχόμενη εβδομάδα, Έλληνες κάτοικοι του Λονδίνου μαζί με Βρετανούς, Γερμανούς και Ισπανούς ακτιβιστές ένωσαν τις φωνές τους στέλνοντας μήνυμα αλληλεγγύης στον Ελληνικό λαό, όπως είχε προγραμματιστεί κατά το τέλος της διαμαρτυρίας μπροστά στην Ελληνική πρεσβεία το προηγούμενο Σάββατο.

Γύρω στα 100 άτομα συγκεντρώθηκαν στην πρώην κατάληψη της εκκλησίας του St. Pauls, η οποία εκκενώθηκε τα ξημερώματα Τετάρτης 28 Φεβρουαρίου. Ωστόσο, παλιότερα μέλη της κατάληψης συνεχίζουν να παρευρίσκονται στην πλατεία, διοργανώνοντας εκεί συνελεύσεις και ομιλίες. Αυτό βοήθησε την Ελληνική ομάδα να έρθει σ΄επαφή μαζί τους και ν’ απευθύνει λόγο ενημερωτικό, αναφορικά με την κατάσταση που επικρατεί στην Ελλάδα (βλ. βίντεο παρακάτω).

Στη συνέχεια, η Ελληνική ομάδα προχώρησε σε συνέλευση, όπου και συζητήθηκαν διαδικαστικά θέματα, μεταξύ των άλλων και η διοργάνωση νέας δράσης συμπαράστασης το επόμενο Σάββατο μπροστά στην Ελληνική πρεσβεία. Τέθηκε επίσης το ζήτημα της ενοποίησής της με άλλες μή-ιεραρχικές Βρετανικές οργανώσεις που πολεμούν τις περικοπές, την ανισότητα και τα διάφορα κοινωνικά προβλήματα.

The European Trade Union Confederation has called a day of action on Wednesday 29 February.

British, Greek and international activists are supporting this by having a protest outside the European Commission office in London calling for No Cuts and in solidarity with the people of Greece.

London protest shows solidarity with struggle in Greece

Hundreds of protesters marched around the Greek embassy in London yesterday, Saturday, in solidarity with the fight against austerity in Greece.

The mainly Greek crowd chanted, “People of Europe, unite and fight!” as they held up traffic in the unannounced demonstration.

Activists from Britain and other eurozone countries joined the protest.

Nick Grant, from the NUT union’s national executive committee, brought solidarity greetings from the union.

“International brotherhood and sisterhood means Greek workers will not stand alone,” he said.

Executive members from the PCS and Unite unions sent messages of support.

Representatives from the Right to Work campaign and Refugee Workers Cultural Association of Turkish and Kurdish workers also spoke.

Eleni, a student, said, “Many of my friends are leaving Greece because of unemployment. Austerity isn’t going to solve the problem.”

Tanya, who works in theatre, described events in Greece as “devastating”. “There is this feeling that there is no future for a whole generation,” she said.

Virginia, a Spanish activist, was also at the protest. She said, “What’s happening is systemic. It’s not about how an individual nation state operates, it is about international forces.”

After the march, protesters held an assembly outside the embassy.

They decided to protest on Wednesday afternoon outside the European Union offices, and next Saturday at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Solidarity with Greek strikers and occupations

A solidarity night with Greek Steel workers, Eleftherotypia, and Alter TV station will take place on March 16 in the Halkevi centre in Hackney, 31-33 Dalston Lane, E8 3DF London.

Solidarity Protest – Greek Embassy 18/02/2012

Up to 300 people attended a protest outside the Greek Embassy, in west London, on Saturday 18 February, as part of the international day of solidarity with the Greek people. Speakers from the lecturers’ union, UCU, from the NUS, from the Jubilee campaign, from Occupy UK, and from the Anarchist Federation offered their solidarity, alongside speakers from Greece, who talked of the resistance to the austerity measures.

‘There are a lot of myths about Greece,’ one speaker said, ‘and we need to expose them.’ Another Greek speaker talked about the need to cancel the debt, nationalise the banks under workers’ control and break with the IMF and the EU. A representative of the Turkish community organisation, the Refugee Workers’ Cultural Association, also brought solidarity greetings.

The protest turned into a spontaneous demonstration and march, which blocked the main road nearby. A favourite slogan was ‘Athens, Cairo, London and Berlin, We shall fight and we shall win!’

 

It was agreed to hold another solidarity protest on Saturday 25 February at 1pm in front of the Greek Embassy.

Εκδήλωση αλληλεγγύης από Λονδίνο (15/02/2012)

Γύρω στα 20 άτομα, στην πλειοψηφία τους μέλη της Ελληνικής συνέλευσης του Λονδίνου, πραγματοποίησαν διαμαρτυρία μπροστά από την Ελληνική πρεσβεία, φωνάζοντας συνθήματα κατά του ΔΝΤ και της κυβέρνησης.

Η αστυνομία κλήθηκε αμέσως από το προσωπικό, μόλις οι συγκεντρωμένοι άρχισαν να συρρέουν στην περιοχή, αναγκάζοντάς τους να μετακινηθούν στο απέναντι πεζοδρόμιο.

Δράση αλληλεγγύης από Λονδίνο

Δράση αλληλεγγύης προς τους απεργούς και διαδηλωτές έλαβε χώρα την Κυριακή 12/2/2012 από Έλληνες μετανάστες της Αγγλίας, Βρετανούς και διεθνείς ακτιβιστές στην Trafalgar Square στο Λονδίνο στις 13:00 τοπική ώρα. Η κίνηση οργανώθηκε μέσω ιστοσελίδων κοινωνικής δικτύωσης μόλις μια μέρα πριν.

Εχθρική και προκλητική ήταν η στάση της αστυνομίας, που σύμφωνα με τα λεγόμενα κάποιου αστυφύλακα, δεν θα έπρεπε να οργανώνονται δράσεις αλληλεγγύης στην Βρετανία για γεγονότα που αφορούν την Ελλάδα και πως «ο χώρος της πλατείας είναι για διασκέδαση και αναζωογόνηση και όχι για ομιλίες και διαμαρτυρίες». Το γκρουπ των διαδηλωτών, αψήφισε την αστυνομική χυδαιότητα και πραγματοποίησε κανονικά, όπως ήταν προγραμματισμένο, τη δράση του, μοιράζοντας, επίσης, και φυλλάδια.

Συνολικά, ο αριθμός των παρευρισκόμενων έφτασε τα 80 περίπου άτομα. Ακούστηκαν γνώμες διάφορων αλληλέγγυων, φωνάχτηκανσυνθήματα (στα Αγγλικά) κατά του ΔΝΤ και των τραπεζών, ενώ συζητήθηκε νέα προγραμματισμένη δράση αλληλεγγύης στο Hackney (16 Μαρτίου) προς τους κοινωνικούς αγώνες στην Ελλάδα, μαζί με αφιέρωμα προς τους απεργούς της Χαλυβουργίας.

Πρακτικά της συνέλευσης 6-11 στο Occupy London

Τα παρακάτω συζητήθηκαν και συμφωνήθηκαν από την Ελληνική ομάδα των αγανακτισμένων στο Λονδίνο. Η συζήτηση διεξήχθη στο Occupy ST. Paul’s όπου λαμβάνει χώρα η κατάληψη Βρετανών διαδηλωτών:
- Τα γεγονότα της εβδομάδας (κάλεσμα δημοψηφίσματος και μετά μάζεμα κάτω από την ευρωπαϊκή κατακραυγή) κυριάρχησαν της συζήτησης, η οποία πήρε πολιτικό περιεχόμενο.
- Διάφοροι ομιλητές τοποθέτησαν την άποψη ότι το δημοψήφισμα όπως τέθηκε αποτελεί ψευτοδίλημμα και καλεί τους πολίτες να πάρουν την πολιτική ευθύνη για μια απόφαση η οποία έχει προκαθοριστεί από την πολιτική των τελευταίων 2 χρόνων αλλά και από την εγκληματική κατάχρηση, κακοδιαχείρηση και επεξαίρεση δημόσιου χρήματος και της κακουργηματικής διαφθοράς των Ελλήνων πολιτικών.
- Στο παραπάνω πλαίσιο υπήρξε απροθυμία γιά καταψήφιση των μέτρων στην υποθετική ερώτηση πρόθεσης ψήφου, με το γενικό consensus να γέρνει μάλλον προς την αποχή, με την καταψήφιση των μέτρων ως μειοψηφική θέση.
- Τέθηκε το θέμα της φιλοευρωπαϊκής πρόθεσης της ελληνικής ομάδας, στη βάση των κοινωνικών προνομίων που συνεπάγεται στους ενδοευρωπαϊκούς απόδημους/μετανάστες, αλλά και στο ιδεολογικό ίσως πλαίσιο της “Ευρώπης των Λαών”. Το ζήτημα παραμένει ανοιχτό, αν και η θέση δείχνει να έχει πλειοψηφική αποδοχή.
- Τέθηκε το θέμα πιθανού πογκρόμ των Ελλήνων σε διεθνή κλίμακα στη βάση της χρησιμοποίησής τους ως αποδιοπομπαίους τράγους για τη γενικευμένη χρηματοοικονομική κρίση, και των παγκόσμιας κλίμακας επιπτώσεων αυτής στην καθημερινή ζωή των πολιτών.

- Γιά τον παραπάνω λόγο αλλά και για λόγους οργανωτικής και πολιτικής όσμωσης με το Occupy London προτάθηκε η δημιουργία εκδήλωσης στο χώρο του St Paul και η ανάρτηση πανό που να προβάλλει το ελληνικό ζήτημα ως αλληλέγγυο σε, και συνιστώσα του παγκόσμιου συνελευσιακού κινήματος. Οι εκδηλώσεις θα έχουν καθαρά ενημερωτικό χαρακτήρα ενώ παράλληλα θα προτείνουν ανοιχτό διάλογο με τους παρευρισκόμενους. Στόχος του, η ενημέρωση του Βρετανικού κοινού για το τί πραγματικά συμβαίνει στην Ελλάδα και η εναντίωση στην εξευτελιστική ρατσιστική προπαγάνδα των Βρετανικών Μέσων Ενημέρωσης.
- Νέα συνάντηση την Κυριακή 13/11 στις 5 στο χώρο της κατάληψης.

ΥΓ: Την Παρασκευή 11 Νοέμβρη η κοινοβουλευτικού τύπου αστική δημοκρατία καταλύθηκε στην Ελλάδα και η διακυβέρνηση της χώρας πέρασε στα χέρια ενός μη εκλεγμένου απ’ τη βάση τεχνοκρατικού μηχανισμού, με ηγέτη τον Λουκά Παπαδήμο. Η διαδικασία επιλογής προσώπων περιορίστηκε σε διακομματικά παζάρια, ευρωπαϊκές ντιρεκτίβες και παρασκηνιακούς παραγοντισμούς. Η διάρκεια του σχηματισμού τέθηκε αρχικά στους δύο μήνες, αλλά ο χρονικός της ορίζοντας παραμένει ανοιχτός τη στιγμή που γράφονται αυτά.

Minutes for the People’s Assembly in Trafalgar Square 24th July 2011

An assembly of 25-30 people took place yesterday, 24th July, 6.30pm – 8.30pm in Trafalgar square, London consisting of Spanish 15M group, British activists and others of diverse nationalities.

• Reports from Spain, UK and Europe:

In Spain – assemblies being held every week in Madrid and at least twice/month in smaller towns and villages.

Indignados just marched to Madrid from routes all over Spain arriving on 23^rd July. Plaza del Sol has once again been occupied. Good atmosphere – groups from different routes told their experiences. The struggle continues.

Successes in stopping housing evictions (although not successful everywhere.)

An assembly from a village in the Basque country has gained executive powers as the local mayor is accepting its decisions.

Success in chasing off police racist stop and search raids in Madrid.

However police repression is increasing esp. in Barcelona.

UK – Last week a solidarity letter to Syntagma Sq Assembly Greece was made.
23^rd Jul Solidarity March and manifestation in Trafalgar square, London took place. As did in Paris, France and other European cities – all connected in solidarity via live streaming.

• Notification of events leading up to 15^th October

3 wks ago, an International meeting of indignants in Lisbon. Plans and good ideas came out of it:

March from Madrid to Brussels starting 17^th Sep to arrive 15^th Oct – idea to involve all Europeans.
Idea to continue march on to London for 5^th Nov.

In USA – New York a call out to occupy Wall St, Freedom Plaza with possible camp 17^th Sep.

In UK a letter is being sent to wide range of groups inviting them to take part on Oct 15^th. So far no letter yet for ordinary citizens.

• 15^th Oct: open discussion on preparation took place

 Consensus on necessity for local assemblies (once or twice/ month). Aims: counter centralisation – local is v.important – reach out to areas where people most disenfranchised and can get support through confronting real local issues. Promote Oct 15^th.

2 Suggestions – i) Local assembly in Kilburn in August. Pilar agreed to make flyers to disseminate in area.

ii)Local assembly in park in September when many returned from holidays (possibly Victoria Park) with camp Saturday and Sunday assembly – suggested by Simon Moore (peace activist.)

Both suggestions have supporters wishing to organise working groups to follow up.

• It was agreed we’ll print leaflets to describe assembly, our collective situation in Europe/World, inviting everyone to speak/listen. Andy will write text. José will format and print. Leaflets will be handed out before assembly to people around Trflgr Sq – inviting them to participate.
• Anticipating possible higher attendance important we organise well – ie moderator/facilitator/turn keeper/ minute taker etc. Arrive prompt at 6pm!!
• Posters with slogans to be placed in assembly circle i.e “They don’t represent us!” “We don’t represent any group” etc.
• Suggestion to have agenda on sign for all to see.
• Also suggested each person invites 2 friends to come along.
• Finally…

A young Hungarian had questions and a debate with him took place which was cut short. It was suggested in future situations like this we could be flexible and allow this or designate a few people to explain i.e why we don’t have democracy at present.
